BETTY JEAN MOONEY (nee Schmelz), of Pacific, Missouri, passed away August 6, 2024 at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 22 days.  Mrs. Mooney was born October 15, 1930 in Robertsville, Missouri to Jack and Margaret (nee Cole) Schmelz.  She was united in marriage to David Mooney on March 19, 1955 in Corince, Mississippi.  Mrs. Mooney was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband David; one daughter, Patricia Ann Gullett; her sisters, Rosie (Don) Allen, Jackie (Edward) Hertlein, Shirley Whitmore, and one brother, Terry Schmelz.

She is survived by her son, Steve and wife Nancy Mooney; her grandchildren, Matthew Mooney, Jason (Kelly) Mooney, Jared Mooney, Stephanie Martin (Scott Ahern), and David (Courtney) Gullet; great-grandchildren, Dylan Mooney, Connor Mooney, Briella Mooney, Aubrey Mooney, Dylan (Emily) Ahern, Zach Ahern, Eli Ahern, Katie Brown, Cayden Mathes, and Jaxson Gullet; other family members and friends.

Mrs. Mooney was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  She loved bowling, being a Room Mother for her children, fishing, cooking (she was a great cook), but her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Private family services will be held a Bell Funeral Home with Pastor B.W. Honeycutt officiating.  Interment is in Pacific City Cemetery.
