Geraldine "Jerry" Irene (Lince) Bell Obituary

GERALDINE IRENE BELL (nee Lince) "JERRY", of Pacific, Missouri passed away September 15, 1998 after a lengthy illness in her 68th year.  She was born August 8, 1930 at Glendale, California as the only child of Charles F. Lince and Adella (Asbach) Lince.

Jerry or Gerri as she was better known as is preceded in death by her mother, father, and step-father, Alba D. Alley.

Jerry is survived by her husband Byron J.; two sons Byron D. and wife Tina of Pacific, Missouri, and Mark and wife Lisa of Robertsville, Missouri; a daughter Edith Ann Brown and husband Dan of Robertsville, Missouri; a step-brother, David Alley of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Ann Alley; nephew Morgan Alley; and friends.

Jerry had attended schools in California and Licking, Missouri then attended college in Springfield, Missouri.  She met and married Byron in 1953.  They moved to Pacific, Missouri where they opened up a funeral home in 1958.  Jerry managed and operated the funeral home while Byron was employed elsewhere.  She was active in community affairs, serving on the Centennial Board and Board of Appeals for Pacific.  She was active in church work, helping as a Sunday School teacher, organist, and Vacation Bible School.  She was a member of "White Shrine," Pacific Chapter of Eastern Star.  She had been a Room Mother, Den Mother on the "Brownies", Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Rainbow Girls.  She had been a member of the J.C. Wives and Optimist Wives and a member of T.O.P.S. at one time.

She was a talented musician, playing several in instruments.  She had played the organ in church services and weddings for years and had given music lessons for a while.   She liked to travel and thought nothing of getting in the car and driving to South Carolina or Kansas City.  She loved antiques, playing "Bingo," cards, and watching tennis or baseball games.  Jerry liked flowers and plants, but always complained that nothing she planted would grow.  She enjoyed drinking coffee and "catching up on news" with the "Hardee Girls," a number of local women who met each morning to drink coffee and enjoy life.  She found time while raising her family to attend college and get an "Associates Degree in Nursing."  Jerry was a fun loving person, saying what she thought and letting the cards fall where they would.  She was family oriented  and enjoyed talking or telling of her grandchildren and their achievements.  She was very proud of her family.

Mrs. Bell was in state at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific, Missouri with visitation September 17 and 19, 1998.  Funeral services were September 18, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church of Pacific.  O.E.S. Services were held at 7:00 P.M. on September 17, 1998 and White Shrine Services were held at 7:30 P.M. that day.  A memorial service was held at 8:00 P.M. by Reverend Phillip Hudson.  Reverend K. Earlwood Towne conducted the Funeral service.  Interment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Pacific, Missouri.
