JOHN WAYNE OWEN, of Pacific, Missouri, passed away December 15, 1995 in his 63rd year after a lengthy illness at Barnes West Hospital. One of two children born to Russell and Clara (nee McBryde) at Palmyra, Arkansas on June 10, 1932.
He is survived y his wife of the home, Frances (nee Wear), a daughter, Johnda Butler and husband Don of Dallas, Texas; his father Russell of Star City, Arkansas; and a brother, James of Star City, Arkansas; nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; Jack and Laura Hischier, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, also survive.
"John W" moved to Pacific some 25 years ago. He retired from Canteen Vending Co., and for the past 8 years was able to spend his time working with horses. He loved the outdoors and working in the woods. In his earlier years, he was a rodeo rider. He was a member of Teamster Union, and AF&AM #173 of Gray Summit, Missouri.
Mr. Owen was in state at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific, Missouri, December 16, 1995 and then December 17, 1995 at Griffin Funeral Home, Star City, Arkansas with funeral services December 18, 1995 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Onas Gray of Missionary Baptist Church of Star City officiating. Interment was at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Star City, Arkansas. Pall bearers were Walter Martin, Leroy McBryde, David Reaves, Eibert Owen, Robert Hankins, and Harold B. Moore.
