Mary Susan (Dowling) Blomes, 80, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025 following a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 16, 1945 to Robert and Nan Dowling.
After marrying in 1965, Sue and her husband Joe went on to build their family home together on the Blomes family land outside of Eureka, Missouri where she spent the rest of her days. Sue devoted much of her life to being a loving wife, raising her five children and creating a beautiful, safe and nurturing home for her family. The warm, welcoming home she worked hard to curate became a second-home to her grandbabies and the gathering place for many of the Blomes family get-togethers she always worked tirelessly to make memorable.
Sue’s greatest joys included time spent with her family, her home, snuggling babies, a glass of Baileys, researching family ancestry, Bunco nights and Dominoes with her closest friends. To have known Sue is to have known a deeply dedicated mother and grandmother with a strong, protective love for the people in her life, a generous, supportive and kind heart and a warm and welcoming spirit. To say she was loved and cherished is an incredible understatement! .
Sue is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe (d. 2021), Robert Dowling (father), Nan Dowling (mother), Michael Dowling (brother), Katherine Dowling (sister), Charles Blomes (father-in-law), Agnes Blomes (mother in-law), Margaret (Blomes) Meyo (sister-in-law) Ryan Miller (great nephew) and William Miller (nephew). Sue’s life’s work was her family and her legacy lives on in the surviving members of her family – her brother: Patrick Dowling, her sister in-law: Sallie (Terry) Miller, her children: Joey (Annette), Kurt (Janis), Mike (Shelly), Sara (Matt) Fakes and Julie (Scott) Turner, her grandchildren: Meaghan, CJ, Devin, William, Shawn, Madi, Cooper and Emme, great-grandchildren: Breck, Briar, Baker and Blayke and best friend – Chris Woods.
