RICHARD DARWIN BARNES, of Gray Summit, Missouri, passed away April 13, 2024 at the age of 65 years, 5 months, and 10 days.  Mr. Barnes was born November 3, 1958 in Kirkwood, Missouri to Carl Richard and Wilma Irene (nee Lashley) Barnes.   He was united in marriage to Cheryl Renee Gudermuth on March 26, 1977 in Pacific, Missouri.  Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by both his parents; and one sister, Carlean Moise. 

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Cheryl, Mr. Barnes is survived by his children, Sheila Marie (John) Manliguis, and Richard Carl Barnes; his siblings, Darlean (Steve) Dischbein, Vickie Fleming, Rhonda (Chuck) Barnes, and Kevin (Rosie) Barnes; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Carley, Tyler, Jessica, Grace, Bubby, McKenzie, Braden, and William; 2 great-grandson, Killian and Noah; other relatives and many friends.

Richard was employed by Hidden Valley Golf and Ski.  He worked there for over 18 years and retired from there when his health would no longer allow him to work.  He was a simple spiritual man with love of nature and the outdoors.  A great love for his family.  He loved his children and grand children more than anything.  Teaching them the same love he had for the outdoors.  He loved giving them atv rides, teaching them the knowledge of hunting, and going for long walks in the woods.  His hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching westerns.  He was an avid Indian Artifact Collector.  He was quite the comedian, jokester, and prankster.

Visitation for Mr. Barnes is Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific, Missouri.  Funeral services are Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Leibmann officiating.  Interment is in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Pacific, Missouri.
