RICHARD “RICK” BRYANT ALBRECHT - OBITUARY
RICHARD “RICK” BRYANT ALBRECHT, 78 formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at his home, in Costa Mesa California, on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Rick was the son of Irwin and Melba Albrecht, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Crosby and Crosby’s mother Jodi; brothers: Irwin, Phillip “Flip”, and sisters: Sherri (Jim) Schwab, Kippi (Gary) Bay, Terri Adams, and Cindi (Dave) Roth; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Albrecht Biermann; brothers, Stephen, Tim, Christopher “Corky”, Robert “Bunky”, and Jeff “Chip”; sister-in-law, Peggy Albrecht, two brothers-in-law, Bill Adams and Gordon Biermann; and nephew Jason Schwab.
Rick was born and reared in St. Louis. He was a fun kid everyone wanted to be around, adventurous, mischievous, a prankster, always “game”. Growing up, he was very involved with Boy Scout Troop 17, as were his brothers.
In 1964, following his brother Irwin’s lead, he enlisted in the United States Navy, was trained as a Radio/Radar Operator and served his country, including tours in Viet Nam, until 1968.
Upon completion, being attracted to the ocean, fair weather, and lifestyles of California, Rich chose to find work and remain on the west coast. Eventually, he accepted a position with the postal system where he worked until his retirement.
In 1988, his son Crosby was born, taking Rick in a new direction. Crosby became Rick’s purpose in life; he was so proud of him. Even on the phone, one could almost “hear the smile” on his face as he bragged about his son.
Rick was an avid reader, books of all genres and apparently saved each one he ever read. He lined his walls with stacks of books; some might say it was like a library without shelves.
A graveside service for Rick’s family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 1:30 P.M., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri, with full military honors. Please arrive by 1:00 P.M. at the rear of the Administration Building in order to line up.
The family was served by Neptune, California; Bell Funeral Home, Pacific, Missouri; and Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri
