RITA MARIE NORRIS (nee Volkert), of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on February 27, 2024 at the age of 75 Years 1 months, and 29 days. She was born on December 9, 1948, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to John L. and Alvera C. Volkert, both of whom she is now reunited with in death. 

Rita is survived by her husband, Norman Kenneth (Ken) Norris, her daughter, Jennifer J. Whitchurch, and son-in-law, James Ray Whitchurch. She also leaves behind her siblings, sister-in-law, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Rita was known for her generosity, always ready to offer a helping hand or a place to stay. Those fortunate enough to be counted among her favorites knew they held a special place in her heart.  While Rita’s candid nature ensured that honesty was never in short supply. She often had an opinion and was eager to share her knowledge with anyone who would listen.

Animals held a special significance in Rita’s life, with many furry friends taking up residence over the years, each one cherished and loved dearly. She explored numerous hobbies, from ceramics to upholstery and even breeding Shar Pei puppies. However, her true passions lay in the simple pleasures of reading and indulging in PBS programming. Above all else, Rita took immense pride and joy in her daughter Jennifer.

Rita will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness and unwavering love leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those she leaves behind.
